Anyone who already has a premium subscription to Amazon and pays the fee annually cannot delay the price increase. Whether you pay more on the key date or only from the end of September or October depends on when your subscription starts. Because according to Amazon, the new price will only be due with the first payment after September 15.
- This means: If you purchased your subscription on the 20th of a given month, you will pay the higher rate from September 20, 2022. If you have opted for a Prime subscription on the 12th of the month, you will only pay the new rate on the October 12, 2022. You can find your payment period details in your Amazon account.
It’s different with Prime members, who have been so far monthly for your membership count. They can benefit from the old tariff for longer by switching from the monthly model to the annual subscription.
You can make the change in your account overview. Do the following in your Amazon profile:
- Tap the menu item My account,
- go connect to the tab Prime,
- then up change payment settings.
Choose the annual rate and, like new customers, only pay the next year the higher price.
Extrapolated, you’ll save around $40 in the next 12 months if you change the payment cycle from monthly to annual before the price change.
