As the SZ wants to know, the sites to be closed include department stores in Bayreuth, Chemnitz, Cottbus, Göttingen, Kiel, Landshut, Lörrach, Lübeck, Münster, Nuremberg, Paderborn, Reutlingen, Saarbrücken, Siegburg, Speyer, Trier and Wiesbaden. However, according to the report, there are also places considered “safe”. These include Aachen, Bonn, Braunschweig, Bremen, Dresden, Kassel, Mannheim and Würzburg.
Online retailer Buero.de initially announced that it wanted to take over part of the Galeria Karstadt Kaufhof branches. He then withdrew the offer at the end of December and justified it by “modified framework conditions”. However, there will likely be final clarity as to which locations will be closed for the approximately 17,400 employees and their customers in March.
