Since the former centre-forward received honorary citizenship from his hometown in 2003, a funeral service at the Michel in Hamburg would have been possible at the request of the family. Other accolades for “Us Uwe” are already in the works. HSV investor Klaus-Michael Kühne, who currently owns the naming rights to the Volksparkstadion, has already considered renaming it to Uwe-Seeler-Stadion.
