35,000 see victory in Nuremberg
HSV decides the traditional duel themselves
A match between two traditional clubs under the spotlight in front of 35,000 spectators – the conditions for the match between 1. FC Nürnberg and Hamburger SV were ready for the Premier League. In the end, the guests win.
Hamburger SV won the traditional duel with 1. FC Nuremberg and first fought their way into the relegation zone of the 2nd Bundesliga. The North Germans won the atmospheric floodlight game at the “Club” in the evening 2-0 (1-0) and handed the Franconians their third defeat of the season. Mario Vuskovic (37th) gave the advantage to the guests in the north-south summit. Robert Glatzel (90+2) and Ludovit Reis pushed the ball over the line in added time.
35,713 spectators gathered a first division atmosphere and saw a match with many fights and many interruptions. Referee Felix Zwayer enraged the HSV bench when he failed to decide on a penalty after a hard tackle from Nuremberg’s Florian Hübner (21st). The guests were initially superior in terms of play, even if the FCN had opportunities thanks to Enrico Valentini (11th) or Mats Möller Daehli (31st). HSV acted harder and Vuskovic finally hammered the ball away.
After the break, the Franconians initially besieged the HSV penalty area. As is often the case, the diplomas lacked the ultimate consequence to seriously distress the guests. Nuremberg’s emergency phase died out and Hamburg rose in injury time.
