In an unusual mix of religion and technology, TemDAO uses Blockchain functionality to provide secure and transparent funding to support World Heritage projects. TemDAO is a decentralized autonomous organization that is a collective owned and governed by the people who create the value of the organization. Members of the organization use cryptographic tokens, in this case the Tem token, to give them a place in decision-making. Based on the Tem token, the project emphasizes the long-term sustainability of various cultural sites around the world.
Recently, the project made substantial donations to support preservation efforts in Ukraine and Turkey, aimed at helping communities conserve their heritage.
TemDAO's groundbreaking approach combines innovative strategies with grassroots involvement of local individuals and organizations. The project is currently working with Ninna-ji Temple, a historic temple in Kyoto, Japan, to rebuild the aging structure through charitable donations.

The organization says blockchain technology is a major asset for TemDAO, as all transactions are recorded on-chain, eliminating the risk of corruption and creating a secure and accountable environment. Donors receive special opportunities as a token of appreciation, such as the ability to stay in historically significant parts of the temple.

In their quest for sustainable restoration and preservation, TemDAO said it is fusing the world of Buddhism at Ninna-ji Temple with its Decentralized Autonomous Organization (DAO) model.

At the heart of TemDAO is the TEM token, which is a secure cryptocurrency. This system involves two forms of voting: off-chain voting (“soft” governance) and on-chain voting. The TEM token, a crucial component of this system, has multiple applications that allow token holders to influence decision-making processes and fund allocation, exchange IP-NFTs, and become nodes of review that help maintain the fairness and integrity of the project.
The distribution of TEM tokens is designed to reward all stakeholders in a democratic way. A majority share of the tokens (62%) is intended for ecosystem actors involved in the protection of world heritage or cultural assets, and for the purchase of essential equipment and repairs. Another 28% of the tokens are split equally between marketing and platform development, while the remaining 10% belong to TemDAO stakeholders such as the team, investors, potential employees, and partners. strategic.
Recently, the TEM project team made donations from TEM profits to help communities affected by global crises. For example, funds were returned to Ukraine following the 2022 Russian invasion and to Turkey following a devastating earthquake in February 2023. These actions demonstrate the commitment of the World Heritage Preservation Team through direct aid.
